Inflation and Unemployment in the European Union

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to analyze the relationship between inflation and unemployment in the European Union. Subject of the thesis is the definition of inflation and unemployment and the relationship between them, ie the Phillips curve. In theory, we define unemployment, describe the basic breakdown of unemployment, its forms and we also characterize inflation, inflation breakdown, where we discussed the ways of measuring inflation, or price indices. In the second section, we analyze whether there is a relationship between inflation and unemployment in selected countries of the European Union. The third chapter is dedicated to the specific recommendations for maintaining low levels of inflation and low unemployment.

Abstract:

Cieľom práce je analyzovať súvislosť medzi infláciou a nezamestnanosťou v podmienkach Európskej únie. Predmet diplomovej práce predstavuje definovanie inflácie a nezamestnanosti a vzájomného vzťahu medzi nimi, teda Phillipsovej krivky. V teoretickej rovine sme si definovali nezamestnanosť, opísali základné členenie nezamestnanosti, jeho formy a tiež sme charakterizovali infláciu, členenie inflácie, kde sme sa zaoberali aj spôsobmi merania inflácie, čiže cenovými indexmi. V druhej kapitole sme analyzovali, či existuje súvislosť medzi infláciou a nezamestnanosťou vo vybraných krajinách Európskej únie. Tretia kapitola bola venovaná návrhu určitých odporúčaní pre udržanie nízkej úrovne miery inflácie a nízkej miery nezamestnanosti.
