Media representation of MeToo movement in the daily paper Lidové noviny

Abstract:

The submitted thesis is focusing on media representation of the movement MeeToo which is calling attention to the problematics of the sexual harassment and sexual violence in the society. The analysis is covering chosen texts from the national Czech daily paper Lidové noviny regarding the time period from 15.10.2017 to 31.12.2018. The goal of this thesis is to interpret the media image and analyze this image in chosen texts with the method of critical discursive analysis of Norman Fairclough. This thesis is trying to achieve to answer the question how was the daily paper Lidové noviny forming the media image of the movement MeToo and in which way the formed image was reflecting current discourse of the problematic of the sexual harassment and sexual violence in Czech society. This thesis is going to use the method of critical discursive analysis to identify the ideological and valence tendencies in the chosen texts.

Abstract:

Prekladaná diplomová práca sa zaoberá mediálnou reprezentáciou hnutia MeToo, ktoré upozorňuje na problematiku sexuálneho obťažovania a násilia v spoločnosti. Analýza sa zameriava na vybrané texty zo celoštátneho českého denníku Lidové noviny za zvolené obdobie od 15.10.2017 do 31.12.2018. Cieľom danej práce je mediálny obraz interpretovať a analyzovať na vybraných textoch a to prostredníctvom metódy kritickej diskurzívnej analýzy podľa Normana Fairclougha. Diplomová práca sa bude snažiť odpovedať na otázku, akým spôsobom denník Lidové noviny utváral mediálny obraz okolo hnutia MeToo a akým spôsobom vytváraným obrazom reflektoval súčasný diskurz okolo problematiky sexuálneho obťažovania a násilia v českej spoločnosti. Prostredníctvom vybranej metódy kritickej diskurzívnej analýzy sa diplomová práca bude zameriavať na ideologické a mocenské tendencie vo vybraných analyzovaných textoch, ktoré bude možné identifikovať.
