Managerial communication with employees during a period of restructuring within the company

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je zaměřena na manažerský problém zvládnutí vnitrofiremní komunikace v období, kdy je organizace transformována, prochází restrukturalizací či změnou, která vyžaduje redukci a propouštění zaměstnanců na všech úrovních firemní struktury. Teoretická část práce se zabývá obecnými zásadami komunikace, principy efektivní vnitropodnikové komunikace, důležitostí udržení důvěryhodnosti managementu, pravidly a riziky komunikace v průběhu propouštění i při samotném propouštěcím rozhovoru s důrazem na možné chyby, kterých se může management dopustit. V praktické části je práce zaměřena na realizaci procesu propouštění ve společnosti ABC, které proběhlo v roce 2018 z důvodu nezbytných organizačních změn, jejichž potřeby přinesl vývoj trhu v posledních letech. Potřebné informace byly získány prostřednictvím polostrukturovaného rozhovoru doplněného o dotazníkové šetření. Analyticky je pak komunikační proces zhodnocen situační SWOT analýzou, která shrnuje silné a slabé stránky procesu, jeho hrozby a příležitosti pro společnost. Cílem práce je vypracování doporučení, jak pomocí dobré komunikace mírnit negativní dopady restrukturalizace na pracovníky, kteří mají propouštění na starosti, na ty, jejichž zaměstnanecký poměr bude ukončen a pro skupiny zaměstnanců, kteří po propouštění v organizaci zůstanou, navrhnout komunikační program s cílem posílit jejich jistotu, loajalitu, iniciativu a pracovní nasazení.

Abstract:

The focus of this Bachelor thesis is the issues faced by managers concerning internal communications in times of changes within the organization, restructuring or any other changes which require the laying off of employees on all levels of the organization's structure. The theoretical part is focused on basic everyday communications, the principles of effective internal communication within the organization, the importance of maintaining trust in the management, the rules and risks in communication during laying off and also during the dismissal interview, with stress on possible mistakes the management could make. The practical part focuses on the realization of the dismissal process in corporation ABC which took place in 2018 as a result of necessary organizational changes the need for which brought market development in recent years. The necessary information was secured through a semi-structured interview supplemented by an investigative questionnaire. The communications process is then analytically rated using the SWOT situational analysis, which summarizes both strong and weak points of the process, its threats and the opportunities it could bring the organization. The goal of this thesis is to work out recommendations on how to mitigate the negative affects of restructuring on those employees responsible for laying off redundant employees, and to design a communication program to secure the security, loyalty and continued initiative of those employees who remain in the organization after redundancies.
