Role of the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the EU in Solving the Conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce je zaměřena na roli Evropské unie při řešení konfliktu v Demokratické republice Kongo. První část se zabývá historií Společné zahraniční a bezpečnostní politiky, jejími nástroji a institucemi. Další část se věnuje situaci v Demokratické republice Kongo od získání její nezávislosti po současný stav. Dále práce analyzuje mise Evropské unie realizované v Kongu. Cílem práce je zjistit, jak byla Společná zahraniční a bezpečnostní politika realizována v Demokratické republice Kongo a zhodnotit působení jejích operací.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis is focused on the role of the European Union in solving the conflict in the Democratic republic of Congo. The first part deals with a history of the Common Foreign and Security Policy and also with its instruments and institutions. The next part outlines a situation in the DRC from the beginning of its independence to the contemporary state. Later on the thesis analyses missions of the European Union conducted in the DRC. The aim of the thesis is to find out how the EU performed the Common Foreign and Security Policy in the DRC and evaluate the impact of its activities.
