The integration process of a family from the Middle East into Czech society: reflection from the perspective of a volunteer.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou integrace rodiny, která do České republiky přišla kvůli hrozícímu nebezpečí v její mateřské zemi. Práce je reflexí jejich náročné životní situace. Teoretická část práce se věnuje problematice migrace, která je velice závratnou situací v životě člověka. Člověk se v této situaci snaží o co nejsnadnější adaptaci a integraci do společnosti dané země. Té však často brání určité předsudky a obavy ze strany majoritní společnosti. Několik kapitol teoretické části práce se zaměřuje i na téma dobrovolnictví. Téma, které na první pohled s problematikou migrace nijak nesouvisí, ale v procesu integrace rodiny do majoritní společnosti, může být velice důležitým prvkem. Empirická část práce představuje výzkumné šetření, které se zabývá zkušenostmi uprchlické rodiny s životem v České republice a významem dobrovolnické opory pro tuto rodinu. Výsledky práce by měly sloužit jako zpětná vazba k lepšímu porozumění situaci migrantů po příchodu do hostitelské země.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the issue of the integration of a family, who has come into the Czech Republic due to an impending danger in their mother country. The work is a reflection of their difficult life situation. The theoretical part focuses on the issue of migration, which is a very difficult and demanding situation. In this situation, a person is trying to adapt and integrate into society of the new country in the easiest possible way. That is often prevented by certain prejudices and fears on the side of the host society. Several chapters of the theoretical part focus on a topic of volunteering. The topic, which may seem unrelated to a migration issue at the first sight, but in the integration process of the family into the major society it can be a very important element. The empirical part presents a research which deals with experiences of a refugee family living in the Czech Republic and with the importance of the volunteering support for this family. The work results should serve as a feedback for a better understanding of migrants’ situation after the arrival into the host country.
