Women on maternity leave and career planning in comparison of two countries

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá návratem žen do zaměstnání po mateřské dovolené ve srovnání České republiky a Německa. Cílem práce je identifikovat hlavní faktory ovlivňující mechanizmy rozhodování při návratu zpět do pracovního života. Teoretická část se zaměřuje hlavně na historický vývoj problematiky sladění pracovního a rodinného života v obou zemích. Zároveň je popsána současná právní i sociální situace. Kvalitativní šetření v České republice a Německu a následná tematická analýza pak umožnují určit hlavní faktory, které působí na ženy, a ovlivňují tak jejich rozhodování. V závěru práce jsou tyto faktory porovnány.

Abstract:

This Master thesis deals with the return of women back to work after having been on maternity leave while comparing the Czech Republic and Germany. The goal of this thesis is to identify the main factors that affect decision-making mechanisms women use when returning to work. The theoretical part focuses on the historical development of the issue of work-life balance in both countries, as well as on the present legal and social situation. The qualitative research performed in the Czech Republic and Germany is followed by a thematic analysis that allows to identify the main factors which have an impact on women and effect their decision-making process. At the end of the thesis, these factors are compared.
