Social construction of engagement and accomplishment in management of crisis centers

Abstract:

Práce zkoumá sociální konstrukci fenoménu flow a úspěšného výkonu u vedoucích pracovníků krizových center. Zaměřuje se na způsoby, jakými vedoucí pracovníci kategorizují, stereotypizují a idealizují fenomén flow a úspěšný výkon při vedení svých podřízených pracovníků. V teoretické části jsou představeny klíčové koncepty, mezi které patří sociální konstrukce, kategorizace, stereotypizace a idealizace, koncept PERMA, ze kterého vychází mimo jiné fenomén flow a úspěšný výkon a také management neziskových organizací. Výzkum je založený na kvalitativní strategii, realizovaný je formou polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s šesti vedoucími pracovníky a šesti zaměstnanci v pěti krizových centrech. Získaná data jsou interpretována na základě otevřeného a axiálního kódování. Výsledkem práce je zjištění, že vedoucí zažívají fenomén flow při práci a mají k němu kladný vztah, považují ho za důležitý z hlediska splnění pracovních úkolů. Úspěšný výkon vedoucí pracovníci spojují se spokojeností, která plyne z kvalitně poskytovaných služeb klientům, kdy pracovníci jsou profesionály ve svém oboru a organizace má dobré jméno. V závěru práce je uvedena odpověď na hlavní výzkumnou otázku a následná doporučení pro další výzkum a praxi.

Abstract:

The thesis examines the social construction of the engagement and accomplishment of managers in the crisis centres. It focuses on the way how the managers categorize, stereotype and idealize the engagement and accomplishment in their work. In the theoretical section there are introduced key concepts such as the social construction and its aspects of categorization, stereotyping and idealization. There is also introduced PERMA model which contain engagement and accomplishment besides others and management of nongovernmental organizations. The research is based on the qualitative strategy; it is implemented through semi-structured interviews with six managers and six employees in the five crisis centres. The obtained data are interpreted on the basis of open and axial coding. The main finding is that managers are experiencing engagement at work and they have positive attitudes to their job. Engagement appears when it is necessary to finish the working assignments. Accomplishment is connected with satisfying performance when the employees provide perfect services for clients. It means that employees are professionals in their branch and the organization has a good reputation. The conclusion sums up the results of the research and includes the answer on the main research question with suggestions for further research and practice.
