Abstract:

My thesis deals with the life and significant achievements of Sir Wilfred Patrick Thesiger, his journeys across the vast and empty Arabian deserts and his adjusting to the harsh life of the Bedouins. It also describes the various cultural and religious habits of Arabs, their vanishing traditional way of life and their adaptation to the modern world. Furthermore the thesis concerns itself with the British influence on the region and Bedouins? share in the travel industry.

Abstract:

Má bakalářská práce pojednává o životě a dosažených úspěších Sira Wilfreda Thesigera, o jeho putování skrz nekonečné a pusté pouště Arábie a jeho přizpůsobení se drsnému životu beduínů. Zabývá se také kulturními a náboženskými zvyky Arabů, jejich mizejícím tradičním životem a jejich adaptací na moderní svět. Tato práce rovněž pojednává o britském vlivu na tento region a podílu beduínů v cestovním ruchu.
