Interactive tool for teaching web application development in the Django framework

Abstract:

Cílem práce je vyvinout vzdělávací webovou aplikaci pomocí tradičních technologií určených pro tvorbu webových stránek. Dalšími použitými technologiemi jsou skriptovací jazyk Python a framework Django. Tato aplikace slouží jako vzdělávací portál, kde se její uživatelé mohou naučit, jak se vytvářejí webové aplikace právě pomocí zmíněného frameworku Django. V první části práce je nejdříve popsáno, proč si autor pro tvorbu samotné aplikace vybral výše zmíněné technologie a krátce tyto technologie porovnává s jejich alternativami. V následující části je analýza trhu vzdělávacích aplikací. Analyzují se jen ty webové aplikace, které se zaměřují na framework Django. Pro analýzu jsou vybrány tři populární vzdělávací servery, dva zahraniční a jeden český. Je ukázáno, čím se tyto aplikace navzájem liší a jak se budou lišit od předkládané práce. V závěru analýzy je krátce odůvodněno, proč by měla vzniknout další vzdělávací platforma. Další část v sobě má grafické ukázky, jak by mohla vlastní webová aplikace vypadat. Kromě grafických praktická část obsahuje návrh architektury včetně případů užití a diagramů tříd, pomocí kterých je popsáno, jak bude aplikace fungovat. Poslední část psaného textu tvoří uživatelská příručka poskytující detailní informace o tom, jak se má předkládaná webová aplikace používat.

Abstract:

The aim of this work is to develop an educational web application using traditional technologies designed for creating websites. Other technologies used are the Python scripting language and the Django framework. This application serves as an educational portal where its users can learn how to create web applications using the aforementioned Django framework. The first part of the thesis first describes why the author chose the above-mentioned technologies for the creation of the application itself and briefly compares these technologies with their alternatives. The following section is an analysis of the educational applications market. Only those web applications that focus on the Django framework are analyzed. Three popular educational servers, two foreign and one Czech, are selected for the analysis. It shows how these applications differ from each other and how they will differ from the presented work. At the end of the analysis, it is briefly justified why another educational platform should be created. The next part of it has graphical examples of what your own web application might look like. In addition to the graphics, the practical part contains the design of the architecture, including use cases and class diagrams, which describe how the application will work. The last part of the written text consists of a user manual providing detailed information on how to use the presented web application.
