Historical photographic technology in contemporary art photo

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se bude zabývat problematikou takzvaných "ušlechtilých tisků" jako je například Kyanotypie, Van Dyke Brown, Daguerrotypie nebo Platinotypie. Práce se také zaměří na změny v postoji k technickému obrazu, kdy se z fotografie jako bezcenné reprodukce stává z výše zmiňovaných alternativních metod hodnotný artefakt. Úvod práce se bude zabývat historií ve vývoji fotografie a uchováváním fotografického média. Bude zde popsán historický a technický vývoj několika metod "ušlechtilých fotografických tisků" a význam těchto technik v době jejich vzniku. Hlavní část práce se bude zabývat podrobněji jednotlivými metodami a jejich významem ve 20. a 21. století, pokusí se objasnit, jak lze pomocí historických metod docílit změny ve vnímání fotografie jako bezcenné reprodukce v hodnotný artefakt a to i na příkladech slavných uměleckých fotografů. Součástí práce budou také vlastní úkázky jednotlivých metod, které budou v příloze bakalářské práce.

Abstract:

This bachelor paper aims at the so called “fine art prints“, such as Cyanotype, Van Dyke Brown, Daguerreotype or Platinum print. The paper focuses mainly on the shift in perception of the technical photography where an individual photography transforms from a worthless reproduction to an artefact of artistic value. Specifically on the influence and the added value conveyed into the photography by the fine art print methods. The introductory part of the paper presents the history of the photography as well as the preservation of the photographic medium. The main part of the paper examines the individual methods as well as the significance in the 20th and the 21st century in a greater detail, thus, using even famous fine art photographers, clarifying the use of historic methods to shift the perception of the photography from a worthless reproduction to an artefact of artistic value. My own samples of the individual methods, attempting to demonstrate my statements, constitute a part of the paper.
