Abstract:
The aim of this Bachelor thesis is the deep analysis of the book of essays The Souls of Black Folk by W. E. B. Du Bois in order to find out the meanings of symbols hidden there. The symbol of the veil together with the idea of double-consciousness are the main themes of my work. Cílem této bakalářské práce je podrobná analýza knihy esejů W. E. B. Du Boise ve snaze zjistit význam a smysl symbolů, které se zde nachází. Analýza centrální metafory závoje spolu s tzv. dvojím vědomím jsou hlavním předmětem mé práce. Dále se budu zabývat otázkou, zda-li je možné uvést v soulad toto dvojí vědomí, které se stalo hlavním rysem Africko Americké identity, jakožto i jejím břemenem. To …more
