Working conditions of nurses in intensive care

Abstract:

Diplomová práce zkoumá pracovní podmínky sester v intenzivní péči a porovnává je s podmínkami sester na standardních odděleních. Dělí se na část teoretickou a část praktickou. Teoretická část se věnuje pracovním podmínkám daným zákonem, psychickými a biologickými dopady práce ve zdravotnickém zařízení na organismus sestry a popisuje intenzivní péči, její prostředí, pacienty a kompetence sester specialistek v intenzivní péči. Praktická část pracuje s daty, získanými od respondentů, pracujících na pozici sestry na standardních odděleních a odděleních intenzivní péče. Data získaná prostřednictvím dotazníku vlastní konstrukce pojednávají o pracovních podmínkách sester na intenzivní péči a standardních odděleních. Data ukazují na drobné rozdíly v pracovních podmínkách na intenzivní péči a standardních odděleních a to především v interpersonálních vztazích a obtěžujících faktorech. Na základě získaných a vyhodnocených dat doporučujeme oblasti, které by šlo v pracovním prostředí zlepšit. Jedná se o oblast interpersonálních vztahů, větrání pracovišť a snižování hluku a obtěžujícího osvětlení.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis looks into the working conditions of nurses in intensive care units and compares them to the working conditions of nurses working in standard wards. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part centres on working conditions as given by law and the psychological as well as the biological impact of working in a health facility on the nurse’s organism. It also describes intensive care, the environment in which it takes place, patients and competences of specialist nurses in intensive care units. The practical part works with the data collected from the respondents who work as nurses in standard wards and intensive care units. The data were collected through a self-designed questionnaire which focused on the working conditions of nurses in standard wards and intensive care units. The data shows there are minor differences in working conditions in standard wards and intensive care units, especially in interpersonal relationships and nuisances. Based on the acquired and evaluated data, areas that can be improved are recommended. These are namely interpersonal relationships, air conditioning, noise restrainment and bothersome lighting.
