The nutritional status of the elderly in the ambulance practitioner

Abstract:

Cíl: Práce se zabývá problematikou, která je zaměřená na nutriční stav seniorů. Hlavním cílem této práce bylo zjistit jaký je stav výživy seniorů v ambulanci praktického lékaře. Metodika: Pro náš výzkum byla zvolena metoda kvantitativního dotazníkového šetření za pomoci standardizovaných dotazníků. K hodnocení stavu výživy byly využity tři nástroje (MUST, MNA, MNA-SF), zaměřené na posouzení stavu výživy seniorů a biochemické hodnoty krve (Prealbumin, Transferin, vitamín B12, Fe, CRP, Leukocyty) a demografické údaje. Výzkumný soubor tvořilo 241 respondentů. Výsledky: Z výsledků naší studie bylo zjištěno, že podvýživu jsme u seniorů určili pomocí MUST testu u 13 %, MNA testu u 90 % a za použití MNA-SF testu u 58 % seniorů. Po statistickém zpracování bylo zjištěno, že použité hodnotící nástroje spolu vzájemně nekorelují. Mezi stavem výživy a biochemickými ukazateli nutrice existují statisticky významné rozdíly u nástrojů (MUST v závislosti na hladině CRP a testu MNA-SF v závislosti na hladině železa). Závěr: Výživa patří k důležité oblasti při kompletním posuzování celkového zdravotního stavu seniora. Problematika výživy seniorů v ambulanci praktického lékaře nesmí být opomíjenou oblastí v péči o seniory, protože dobrý stav výživy zvyšuje obranyschopnost organismu, přispívá k rychlejšímu uzdravování a hojení ran, ke zlepšení hybnosti a tím i soběstačnosti.

Abstract:

Objective: This paper deals with an issue, which focuses on the nutritional status of the elderly. The main objective of this work was to determine the nutritional status of the elderly at an outpatient practitioner. Methods: For our research was chosen a method of quantitative questionnaire survey using standardized questionnaires. For the assessment of nutritional status were used three tools (MUST, MNA, MNA-SF) focused on assessing the nutritional status of the seniors and biochemical blood values (prealbumin, transferrin, vitamin B12, iron, CRP, leukocytes) and demographic datas. The research was consisted of 241 respondents. Results: From the results of our study, it was found that we determined the malnutrition in the elderly using the MUST test at 13%, the MNA test at 90% and using the MNA-SF test at 58% of the seniors. After statistical processing, it was found that the used assessment tools do not correlate. Between nutritional status and biochemical indicators of nutritional there are statistically significant differences in the instruments (MUST depending on the level of CRP test and MNA-SF depending on the level of iron). Conclusion: Nutrition belongs to the important areas of a complete assessment of the overall health status of a senior. Nutritional issues of the seniors at the practitioner?s must not be forgotten in the care of the elderly, because a good nutritional status improves the immune system, contributes to a faster recovery and healing wounds, to improve mobility and thus self-sufficiency.
