Adaptation of the marketing strategy of the Danish pharmaceutical company H. Lundbeck A/S on the Czech market

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se snaží popsat, jakým způsobem je schopna dceřiná farmaceutická firma Lundbeck Česká republika s.r.o. adaptovat na lokální podmínky a současnou situaci v České republice marketingovou strategii konkrétního originálního produktu vytyčenou dánskou mateřskou firmou H.Lundbeck A/S. Tato firma působí v oblasti léků centrálního nervového systému a v současné době se potýká s kritickou situací, kdy klíčovému produktu z jejího portfolia vyprší patentová ochrana, čímž se trh uvolňuje pro vstup generického přípravku. Tato bakalářská práce se snaží na základě analýzy zákazníků, analýzy konkurence, komparace s obdobnými produkty na trhu a analýzy současné situace na poli českého farmaceutického trhu, poskytnout návrh protigenerické strategie. Nejpodstatnějším závěrem a zároveň i doporučením, k němuž jsem na základě výše zmíněných postupů dospěla, je zjištění, že dle mého názoru dceřiná firma Lundbeck Česká republika s.r.o. může na trhu antidepresiv odolat náporu generika a uplatnit účinnou strategii za podmínek, že nepoleví v odborných aktivitách zdůrazňujících přednosti originálních léků a bude schopna v lékárnách nabídnout pacientovi nulový doplatek na tento produkt, a tím zajistit jeho dostupnost pro většinu pacientů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis intends to describe how the pharmaceutical subsidiary company named Lundbeck Česká republika s.r.o. is able to adopt the marketing strategy stipulated by the Danish global company named H.Lundbeck A/S of the concrete original product on the local conditions and the current situation in the Czech Republic. The company operates on the CNS field and currently has to deal with a critical situation, when the patent protecting its key product will soon expire. This will open the market to the product?s generics. This bachelor thesis intends to provide a suggestion on the anti-generics strategy based on the customer analysis, competitors? analysis and comparison with the similar products on the market and current situation on the Czech pharmaceutical market analysis. The most important conclusion and also my recommendation resulted from all analysis mentioned above is that the subsidiary company Lundbeck Česká republika s.r.o. is able to resist and implement a successful anti-generics strategy. The company has to however provide a scientific service for medical doctors stressing the merits of the original product and has to be able to offer no supplementary charge for a patient in the pharmacy. This will ensure availability of the product for all patients.
