Criticism of Society in Erasmus and More

Abstract:

Předložená bakalářská práce pojednává o dílech Chvála bláznivosti od Erasma Rotterdamského a o Utopii Thomase Mora. Cílem práce je porovnat kritiku společnosti v obou spisech. V první části práce je popsán život Erasma, historicko-politické souvislosti jeho díla Chvála bláznivosti, dramatická kompozice a hlavní myšlenky kritiky tehdejší společnosti. V druhé části práce je obdobně popsán život Thomase Mora, historicko-politické okolnosti vzniku jeho spisu Utopie, dramatická stavba spisu a Morova kritika anglické společnosti. Zároveň budou vyloženy vybrané aspekty zřízení Utopijských ve vztahu k Erasmově kritice společnosti.

Abstract:

The presented Bachelor thesis describes the works The Praise of Folly by Erasmus of Rotterdam and The Utopia by Thoma More. The aim of this thesis is to compare the criticism of society in both writings. The first part of this work describes the life of Erasmus, historical-political context of his work The Praise of Folly, dramatical composition and the main ideas of criticism of society at that time. The second part describes in a similar way the life of Thomas More, historical-political circumstances of the origin of his work Utopia, dramatical structure of his writing and More´s criticism of the English society. There are also presented selected aspect of Utopian establishment in relation to the Erasmus´s criticism of the society.
