Personal coping with quilt in relation to Pastoral activity in the Czech prisons system

Abstract:

Diplomová práce rozvíjí téma pastorační činnosti v českém vězeňství, kde se otevřel prostor pro rozbor otázek týkajících se viny a nápravy. Cílem diplomové práce je seznámit čtenáře s filosofickými pohledy na problematiku viny prostřednictvím příslušných děl J. A. Komenského, Karla Jasperse, Michela Foucaulta a Martina Bubera. Tato problematika je posléze doplněna osobními příběhy vězňů. V první části diplomové práce jsou představena stěžejní díla všech čtyř autorů. Posléze jsou objasněny základní pojmy, s nimiž se bude dále pracovat: vina, náprava, svědomí a konverze. Druhá část je zaměřena na vyrovnávání s vinou v českém vězeňství. Obsahuje jednak příběhy jedinců, jichž se otázka viny dotkla a s níž sami pracovali, jednak další získané informace, které jsou poté vyhodnoceny a srovnány s rozborem příslušných děl. Tato část je doplněna kapitolou, která čtenáře seznamuje s dostupnou pastorační péčí v českých věznicích a smyslem práce s odsouzenými.

Abstract:

This thesis explores the topic of pastoral work in the Czech prison system, laying the groundwork for the analysis of questions concerning guilt and correction. The aim of this thesis is to provide the reader with philosophical insights into the issue of guilt through the relevant works of J.A. Comenius, Karl Jaspers, Michel Foucault and Martin Buber. This is later accompanied by prisoners' personal stories. The thesis is divided into two sections, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part presents the principal works of the four authors. This is followed by an explanation of the basic terms used in the thesis: guilt, correction, conscience and conversion. The theoretical part includes a chapter informing the reader about the pastoral care available in Czech prisons and the meaning of work with convicts. The practical part contains stories of individuals who have been affected by and have worked with guilt issues, as well as other information obtained, which is then evaluated and compared with an analysis of the relevant works.
