The use of learning materials by the third-grade students at the Faculty of Education in University of Ostrava.

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá frekvencí užívání studijních materiálů u studentů bakalářského studia. Zaměřuje se také na faktory, které studenty ovlivňují při jejich výběru studijního materiálu. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a empirickou část. Teoretická část je rozdělena do tří kapitol. První kapitola definuje pojem učebnice, didaktický text a učení se z textu. Druhá kapitola vymezuje vysokoškolskou výuku, dále její metody a formy. Třetí kapitola se zabývá učebnicí, jejími funkcemi a strukturou. Výzkumná část je rozdělena do tří částí a popisuje výzkumný vzorek, metodu sběru dat a samotný výzkum. Cílem této práce je zjistit, jaké studijní materiály používají studenti 3. ročníku bakalářského studia a jaké faktory je ovlivňují při jejich výběru. Dalším cílem této práce je zjistit, jak studenti pracují se studijním materiálem a jaké jsou jejich studijní zvyklosti. Pro získání a následné zpracování dat jsem zvolila metodu polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Součástí výzkumu byl i krátký dotazník SETLQ, který byl již zpracován v projektu ETL. Ten se zaměřuje na očekávání od vysokoškolského studia. Stanovila jsem tyto výzkumné otázky: jaká je frekvence užívání studijních materiálů VŠ studenty při přípravě na zkoušku či test, jaké faktory ovlivňují VŠ studenta při výběru studijních materiálů pro přípravu na zkoušku či zápočtový test,jaké jsou zvyklosti studentů v souvislosti s užíváním studijních materiálů, jaké postupy používají studenti při učení se z textu. Výzkumný vzorek tvořilo celkem třicet respondentů napříč různými obory. Oslovených bylo patnáct žen a patnáct mužů. V závěru práce jsou zveřejněny výsledky výzkumu, z kterých vyplývá, že nejpoužívanějším učebním materiálem se stala skripta. Faktorem, který nejvíce ovlivňuje studenty při jejich výběru výukového materiálu je samotný materiál. Podle výzkumu jsme zjistily, že studenti při práci s textem nejvíce používají barvy a učí se z tištěných materiálů.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the frequency of studying materials´ usage by the students of bachelor´s degree. Moreover, it focuses on the factors which influence the students´ choice of educational materials. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and empirical. The theoretical part is divided into three chapters. The first one defines the terms, as a textbook, a didactic text and a text learning. The second one defines an academic learning, especially its methods and forms. The third chapter deals with the textbooks, particularly their functions and structure. The empirical part is divided into three sections and it deals with the terms as an investigative sample, a method of data capture and a research itself. The purpose of this thesis is to find out which studying materials are used by the students of the third grade of bachelor´s degree and which factors influence their choice. Another aim of this thesis is to detect the way of students´ work with educational materials and their studying habits. I chose the method of half-structured interview for gaining and processing data. The important part of the research was a short questionnaire SETLQ, already done by ETL project. It aims at the expectations from the university studies. I had set following research questions: what is the frequency of using studying materials by the university students during their preparation for an exam or a test; which factors affect the university student´s choice of studying materials for preparation to an exam or a credit test; what are the habits of students in connection with using studying materials; what proceedings are used by students while text learning. The research sample was composed of thirty respondents across various fields of study. We spoke to fifteen women and fifteen men. In the end of the thesis are the results of the research published. The most often students use scripts for learning. The decisive factor for this choice is the material itself. We also found out that students use colours while working with texts and they study from printed materials.
