An impact of Asian competition on Czech companies

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problematikou mezinárodní obchodní spolupráce mezi českými a asijskými ekonomickými subjekty. Jsou v ní představeny jak hlavní teoretické směry v oblasti mezinárodního obchodu, tak nejdůležitější praktické faktory ovlivňující rozložení mezinárodní dělby práce. V práci jsou představeny nejdůležitější asijské země – Čína, Indie, Japonsko a země sdružení ASEAN – a to z pohledu jejich postavení na mezinárodním obchodním trhu, jejich konkurenčních výhod, silných a slabých stránek. Současnému stavu obchodní spolupráce mezi Českou republikou a uvažovanými zeměmi asijského regionu je věnována samostatná kapitola. Praktická část práce shrnuje poznatky o možných dopadech asijské konkurence na české firmy, a to jak pozitivních, tak negativních. Na závěr jsou představeny dvě základní strategie, jež mohou české firmy zaujmout ve vztahu s asijskými konkurenty. Oba subjekty si buď mohou konkurovat (konfrontační strategie) nebo spolu mohou vytvořit alianci a sledovat jeden oboustranně prospěšný cíl (kooperační strategie).

Abstract:

The central theme of this thesis is a description of international business cooperation between Czech and Asian economic subjects. It presents the main theoretical directions in international trade area and also the most important practical factors influencing the international division of labour. The thesis introduces the most important Asian economies – China, India, Japan and ASEAN member countries – from the point of view of their position on the international trade market, their competitive advantages, their strenghts and weaknesses. The separate chapter is dedicated to describe the current status of a business cooperation between Czech Republic and the chosen Asian countries. The practical part of the thesis summarizes the knowledge of possible impacts of Asian competition on Czech companies, both positive and negative ones. The final chapter introduces two basic business strategies which can be applied by Czech enterprises towards Asian competitors. Both subjects can either compete (a confrontational strategy) or build a partnership and follow one mutually profitable purpose (a cooperational strategy).
