The main aim of this master thesis is to examine a reader in Slovak realistic literature. First, we explore different ways how to research a reader in literature. We focus on model reader but we describe also empirical reader. The important part of literary communication is the relationship between an author and a reader. Táto diplomová práca si dala za cieľ preskúmať pohľad na čitateľa, a to na čitateľa najmä modelového, ale z časti aj toho empirického. Zameriava sa na čitateľa z hľadiska účastníka literárnej komunikácie ovplyvneného rôznymi vnútornými aj vonkajšími faktormi.
