Free Will and Responsibility

Abstract:

Předkládaná práce rozebere pojmy svobodná vůle a odpovědnost. Nejprve se bude věnovat jejich obsahu dle existujících teorií a poté vytvoří vlastní alternativní koncepci. Ta bude zohledňovat především vliv společnosti na vůli člověka. Jádrem alternativní koncepce bude myšlenka, že společnost vytváří ideologie, které morální vůli člověka ovlivňují. Tyto ideologie jsou soubory morálních norem, které člověku říkají, jak v morálních situacích jednat. Práce bude také zkoumat vliv současné dominantní ideologie na vůli člověka. Jde o ideologii práva, která se stala oficiální ideologií moderní liberální demokracie. Cílem práce bude odpovědět na otázku, zda svobodná vůle existuje, a zda se její vnímání v moderních demokraciích skutečně tolik liší od totalitních režimů.

Abstract:

The thesis below will analyze concepts of free will and responsibility. It will focus on the meanings of these concepts set in the theory at first, then it will create an alternative conception of free will and responsibility. The alternative conception will respond to the influence of society, which affects the human´s will. The core idea is that the society creates ideologies that affect the human´s free will. Ideologies are systems of moral standards that tell humans what to do in each moral situation. The following thesis will also be concerned with the influence of the recent dominant ideology. It is the ideology of law that has become the official ideology of modern liberal democracy. The aim of the thesis is to answer whether the free will really does exist and whether its meaning is different in modern democracies from the one in totalitarian regimes.
