Interpretation and Reflection of Nordic Mythology Throuhgh So Called Viking Metal Bands

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce analyzuje, jakým způsobem se reflektuje a interpretuje severská mytologie v tvorbě viking-metalových kapel. Na začátku se práce zaměřuje na původ vzniku těchto kapel na konci 80. let minulého století. Následně si představíme severskou mytologii, která se stala hlavním tématem hudebníků pocházejících především z oblasti Skandinávie. Dále se bude práce soustředit na hlavní motivy interpretované těmito kapelami, jak se reflektují v samotné hudbě a image těchto kapel. Na závěr řeší práce otázku, jakým způsobem ovlivnili viking-metalový muzikanti hudební svět, co přinesli inovativního a nového nejen do světa hudby ale kultury obecně. Jako hlavní zdroje hudební produkce mi poslouží tvorba skandinávských kapel označovaných jako viking-metal Enslaved, Einehrej a Amon Amarth. Abstract:

This Bachlor thesis alnalizes how is nordic mythology reflected an interpretated in viking metal. At the begining of this work I descirbe the origins of those bands in late 80's. Than I introduce nordic mytology, which became main topic of mainly scandinavian musicians. Than this work concetrates on how are these topic interpretated by viking metal bands, how are they reflected in their music and image. At the end this thesis tries to describe how viking metal bands influenced world of music and what the brought new not only to the world of music but also to the culture generaly. As main source of musical production i use scandinavian viking metal band Enslaved, Einherjer and Amon Amarth.
