Strategie Greenpeace při ovlivňování mezinárodní environmentální politiky: Případ ochrany oceánů

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na nevládní environmentální organizaci Greenpeace a její snahu prosadit ochranu oceánů prostřednictvím kampaně Protect the Oceans (PTO) na konferencích United Nations Ocean Conference a IGC5 v roce 2022. Navzdory silnému mezinárodnímu úsilí nebyla v roce 2022 podepsána globální úmluva o oceánech. Cílem práce je identifikovat interní a externí překážky, kterým organizace Greenpeace během kampaně čelila, a to prostřednictvím kvalitativního studia primárních dat a interních dokumentů, jakož i zkoumáním rozhovorů s pěti zaměstnanci zapojenými do kampaně. První kapitola zkoumá vývoj nevládních organizací, zatímco druhá kapitola představuje Greenpeace, jeho strukturu, komunikaci a kampaně. Závěrečná kapitola poskytuje vhled do zákulisí kampaně PTO a poukazuje na problémy a překážky, s nimiž se organizace Greenpeace musela vypořádat. Celkově si tato práce klade za cíl odpovědět na výzkumnou otázku, které vnitřní a vnější překážky byly příčinou toho, že kampaň z pohledu Greenpeace nepřinesla požadované výsledky.

Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the environmental non-governmental organization Greenpeace and their efforts to push for the protection of oceans through its Protect the Oceans (PTO) campaign at the United Nations Ocean Conference and IGC5 in 2022. Despite strong global efforts, a Global Ocean Treaty was not signed in 2022. The thesis aims to identify the internal and external barriers that Greenpeace faced during the campaign through a qualitative study of primary data and internal documents, as well as through examining interviews with five employees involved in the campaign. The first chapter explores the evolution of non-governmental organizations, while the second chapter introduces Greenpeace, its structure, communication, and campaigns. The final chapter provides insights into the PTO campaign's backstage, highlighting the challenges and barriers encountered by Greenpeace. Overall, this thesis aims to answer the research question of which internal and external barriers were responsible for the campaign's lack of desirable outcomes from the perspective of Greenpeace.
