The Specifics of Communication with Parents of Roma Pupils from the Perspective of a Teacher

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou specifik komunikace rodičů romských žáků prizmatem pedagoga na základní škole s převážně romskými žáky. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na charakteristiku komunikace, komunikaci jako základ vztahu rodiny a školy a na romského žáka a jeho postavení v rodině. V první kapitole charakterizujeme typy komunikace, proces komunikace a komunikaci v romské rodině. V druhé části popisujeme principy komunikace školy a rodiče, bariéry v komunikaci na straně pedagogů a rodičů romských žáků. Dále popisujeme charakteristiku romské kultury, vliv rodiny na vzdělání romského žáka a výchovu romského žáka v rodině. V praktické části diplomové práce jsme se zaměřili na kvalitativní výzkum s cílem zjistit a popsat, jak pedagog vnímá specifika komunikace s rodiči romských žáků. Data byla získána z polostrukturovaných rozhovoru a objasněna pomocí zakotvené teorie.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of the specifics of communication between parents of Roma pupils from the perspective of a teacher at a primary school with mainly Roma pupils. The theoretical part focuses on the characteristics of communication, communication as the basis of the relationship between family and school, and on the Roma student and his position in the family. In the first chapter, we characterize the types of communication, the communication process and communication in the Roma family. In the second part, we describe the principles of school-parent communication, barriers in communication on the part of teachers and parents of Roma pupils. Next, we describe the characteristics of Romani culture, the influence of the family on the education of a Romani student and the upbringing of a Romani student in the family. In the practical part of the thesis, we focused on qualitative research with the aim of finding out and describing how the teacher perceives the specifics of communication with the parents of Roma pupils. Data were obtained from semi-structured interviews and clarified using grounded theory.
