Musical memory and the possibilities of its development in secondary school students

Abstract:

Hudební paměť představuje klíčový aspekt pro úspěšné osvojení hudebních dovedností a porozumění hudbě. Cílem této bakalářské práce je prozkoumat vliv hudební výchovy a dovedností hry na hudební nástroje na paměťové procesy u studentů ve středoškolském věku. Ve výzkumné části práce je hudební paměť efektivnější u studentů s větším množstvím hudební výchovy a zda hra na hudební nástroj má vliv na jejich paměťové schopnosti. Dále se zabývá otázkou, zda je pozorovatelný rozvoj hudební paměti u studentů ve vyšších ročnících ve srovnání s nižšími ročníky. Výzkum probíhal na Podkrušnohorském gymnázium a VOŠ, OA, SPgŠ a SZŠ v Mostě, kde jsou studenti z pedagogické střední a gymnázia testováni prostřednictvím speciálně navrženého testu hudební paměti. Data získaná z testování a vyhodnocení byla analyzována s cílem poskytnout důležité poznatky pro oblast hudební výchovy a vzdělávání. Tato bakalářská práce přispěje k lepšímu porozumění hudební paměti u dospívajících a otevře cestu k rozvoji efektivních metod výuky hudebních dovedností ve středoškolském vzdělávání.

Abstract:

Musical memory represents a crucial aspect for the successful acquisition of musical skills and understanding of music. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to explore the influence of music education and instrument-playing skills on memory processes among students in secondary school age. In the research portion of the work, it examines whether musical memory is more efficient in students with a higher level of musical education and whether playing a musical instrument impacts their memory abilities. Furthermore, it addresses the question of whether there is observable development of musical memory among students in higher grades compared to lower grades. The research took place at the Podkrušnohorské Gymnázium and VOŠ, OA, SPgŠ a SZŠ in Most, where students from pedagogical secondary schools and gymnasiums were tested using a specially designed musical memory test. The data obtained from the testing and evaluation were analysed with the goal of providing valuable insights for the field of music education. This bachelor's thesis will contribute to a better understanding of musical memory in adolescents and pave the way for the development of effective methods for teaching musical skills in secondary education.
