The Role of Josef Lada in Czech Comic Strip in the First Decades of the 20th Century

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje tématu posouzení role Josefa Lady v počátcích komiksové tvorby v českých zemích. Autor v první části práce seznamuje čtenáře s teoretickou rovinou fenoménu komiks a kreslený příběh. Ve druhé popisuje historický kontext vývoje kresleného příběhu v období rakouského mocnářství a v období prvorepublikovém. Třetí část práce tvoří chronologické uspořádání Ladovy kreslířské tvorby a pojmenování zásadních kariéru určujících děl. Závěrečná část je věnovaná porovnání s Ladovými uměleckými kolegy a popisu jeho obrazu mezi historiky umění, jeho následovníky, nakladateli a dalšími.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the theme of Josef Lada's role in the beginnings of comic work in the Czech lands. In the first part of the work the author introduces the reader to the theoretical plane of the comic phenomenon and cartoon story. In the second, it describes the historical context of the development of the cartoon story during the period of the Austrian monarchy and the period of the First Republic. The third part of the work is the chronological arrangement of Lad's drawing work and the naming of the crucial career of the works. The final part is devoted to comparison with Lada's artistic colleagues and a description of his image among art historians, his followers, publishers and others.
