The Spiritual Dimension of the Notion of Unification in the Philosophy of st. John of the Cross

Anotace:

Cílem práce je seznámit čtenáře s osobností a s mystikou a sv. Jana od Kříže, velikána španělské mystiky 16. století. Pojednání se nejdříve zaměří na mystiku obecně a na její místo v křesťanství, zohlední se také jednotlivé proudy v mystice. Následuje seznámení s životními osudy světce a samotný pohled na Janovu mystiku skrze náčrt Hory dokonalosti, sanjuanistické shrnutí nauky spění duše k Bohu, k dosažení dokonalosti, kterou je sjednocení s Bohem v lásce, jímž je plnost vztahu v životě Nejsvětější Trojice

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to familiarise the reader with the personality and mysticism of St. John of the Cross, the great figure of Spanish 16th century mysticism. At the beginning, the text focuses on general aspects of mysticism and the role it plays in Christianity, and makes references to different streams within mysticism. Further on, the thesis presents the life of St. John and looks at his mysticism through the drawing of the Mountain of Perfection, St. John's summary of the doctrine of the soul's journey to God and to perfection, which is the union of the soul with God in love and the fullness of relationship in the life of the Holy Trinity
