Conversion of original structures of Slezan area from the point of view of the garden and landscape architecture

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá aktuální tematikou konverze původních struktur. Její aktuálnost je spojena s neustále se rozrůstající zástavbou do okolí na úkor nezastavěné půdy. V reakci na tento globální problém se začíná uplatňovat nástroj konverze k opětovnému využití rozsáhlých postindustriálních areálů. Práce, vzhledem k výběru modelového území pro návrhovou část, přibližuje tematiku konverze v obecné rovině, a to ve vztahu k brownfields po průmyslové výrobě. V návrhové části je vypracovávána architektonická studie pro postindustriální areál Slezan 08 po textilním průmyslu ve Frýdku–Místku. V návrhu je území areálu Slezan přetvořeno na takové město ve městě, kde se prolíná a zároveň doplňuje řada funkcí. Návrh zapojuje opuštěný areál opět do organismu města a zpřístupňuje jej veřejnosti. Opuštěné průmyslové území je přeměněno na atraktivní multifukční veřejný prostor, který nabízí využití širokému spektru uživatelů. Nově ušitý design řešeného území vnáší do jeho veřejného prostoru moderní prvky a tvarosloví, ale s ohledem na hodnotnou historickou architekturu budov a tradici textilní výroby. Návrhová studie reaguje na aktuální potřeby společnosti, současně však zachovává ducha daného místa a jeho identitu.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the current topic of conversion of original structures. Its timeliness is connected with the expanding building construction in the surrounding area at the expense of green land. In reaction to this global problem, the conversion tool is starting to be applied to re-use large post-industrial sites. The work approaches the topic of conversion in general, in relation to brownfields after industrial production, due to the selection of a model area for the designed part. In the designed part, an architectural study is being created for the post-industrial area Slezan 08 after the textile industry in Frýdek–Místek. In the architectural proposal, the territory of the Slezan complex is transformed into a city within a city, where a number of functions intertwine and complement each other. The proposal integrates the abandoned site back into the city's organism and makes it available to the public. The abandoned industrial area is transformed into an attractive multifunctional public space that offers use to a wide range of users. The new proposal of the designed area brings modern elements and morphology into its public space, but with respect to the valuable historical architecture of the buildings and the tradition of textile production. The design study responds to the current needs of society, but at the same time preserves the spirit of the place and its identity.
