Pillow lavas in the metabasite zone of the Brno batholith

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá výskyty polštářových láv v metabazitové zóně brněnského batolitu. V rešeršní části jsou shrnuty obecné informace o polštářových lávách, o výskytech polštářových láv na Moravě a ve Slezsku a o geologii brněnského batolitu. Během výzkumné části práce byl proveden terénní popis jednotlivých lokalit s polštářovými lávami, změřena magnetická susceptibilita a přirozená radioaktivita hornin, byly popsány výbrusy pod polarizačním mikroskopem a určeno chemické složení pomocí XRF spektrometru. Výskyty polštářových láv se podařilo zdokumentovat u Černé Hory, v Brně-Ivanovicích, v Brně-Žabovřeskách a v Brně na Špilberku. Hlavním přínosem práce je dokumentace jednotlivých lokalit s polštářovými lávami a zjištění jejich přítomnosti v celém průběhu metabazitové zóny.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis is dealing with the occurrences of pillow lavas in the metabasite zone of the Brno batholith. The background research is a summary of general information about pillow lavas, occurrences of pillow lavas in Moravia and Silesia and geology of the Brno batholith. During the field and laboratory studies the description of the localities with pillow lavas was carried out, magnetic susceptibility and naturally occurring radioactivity of the rocks were measured, the samples using the polarizing microscope were described and the chemical composition with the assistance of the XRF spectrometer was determined. The occurrences of pillow lavas were successfully documented near Černá Hora, in Brno-Ivanovice, Brno-Žabovřesky and in Brno city centre next to the Špilberk castle. The main contribution of this thesis is the documentation of the localities with pillow lavas and their determination in the whole extend of the metabasite zone.
