Actor or Dancer

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce je teoretickým shrnutím studia současného a moderního tancena taneční konzervatoři Duncan Centre a následného studia na katedře alternativníhoa loutkového divadla Akademie múzických umění v Praze. Zabývá se srovnáváním takblízkých a zároveň vzdálených profesí jakými jsou herectví a tanec. Jejím cílem jepojmenovat v čem se obory shodují a kde se naopak rozcházejí. Zda je pro tanečníkatěžké stát se hercem, zda je pro herce těžké stát se tanečníkem. A za jakých okolnostíje možné naplnit profesi tanečníka i herce na plný úvazek. V první části se práce opíráo mou vlastní zkušenost a můj osobní pohled na herce a tanečníka. Snaží se vyvrátitnevhodné pojmenování-performer, které běžně používáme pro všechny, jež naplňujívíce než jednu uměleckou činnost. V druhé části se práce zabývá fyzickým tréninkemobou profesí a snaží se pojmenovat, co musí tanečník přidat ke svému vzdělání, chcelise stát hercem. V poslední části se pak zaměřuje na zkušební proces, hledá chvíleve kterých se obory stoprocentně protínají a schází se tak v jednom bodu.

Abstract:

This thesis is a theoretical description of my study of current and modern dance at thedance conservatory Duncan Centre. The description continues with my study at theDepartment of Alternative and Puppet Theatre at the Academy of Performing Arts inPrague. There is a comparison of acting and dancing. Both are close and, at the sametime, distant areas of performance. The goal of the thesis it to identify the elementsthat are shared or unique between them. Specifically, there is a description of thedifficulties for a dancer to become an actor and, on the other hand, for an actor tobecome a dancer. There is also a list of conditions that need to be met for somebodyto be a full-time dancer and actor. The first part of the thesis describes my experienceand my view of an actor and dancer. The term 'performer' is discussed as it should notbe used for all the people who do more than one artistic area. The second part of thethesis deals with training that is needed for dancing and acting. There is a list of therequirements needed for a dancer to become an actor. The last part of the thesisfocuses on a trial period and it finds events when the areas merge in one.
