The Authentic Paradox

Abstract:

Práce nahlíží požadavek hodnoty autenticity perspektivou proměn, kterými podle teorie post-autenticity tento pojem v současné mediální krajině prochází. Práce je rozdělena do tří částí. V té první se zajímám o výklad pojmu autenticita perspektivou převážně antropologických a sociálních disciplín. Zajímám se, jakým způsobem, se konstruují představy o autenticitě obrazů dokumentujících realitu. Ve druhé části představím teorii post-autenticity. Vycházím z práce s odbornou literaturou a prameny. Výchozí perspektivu mi tvoří teorie post-autenticity britské digitální antropoložky Jay Owens a výzkum strategií autenticity české digitální antropoložky Marie Heřmanové. V poslední části práce přicházím s vlastní teorií autentického paradoxu a režijní metodou, která s tímto paradoxem může vědomě zacházet při natáčení tzv. dokumentárních filmů.

Abstract:

The thesis looks at the claim of the value of authenticity through the perspective of the transformations that this concept is undergoing in the contemporary media landscape according to the theory of post-authenticity. The thesis is divided into three parts. In the first, I am interested in interpreting the concept of authenticity through the perspective of predominantly anthropological and social disciplines. I am interested in the ways in which, ideas of authenticity are constructed in images documenting reality. In the second part I will introduce the theory of post-authenticity. I draw on my work with literature and sources. My initial perspective is the theory of post-authenticity by the British digital anthropologist Jay Owens and the research on authenticity strategies by the Czech digital anthropologist Marie Heřmanová. In the last part of the thesis, I come up with my own theory of the authentic paradox and a directorial method that can consciously deal with this paradox when making so-called documentary films.
