Abstract:

Diplomová práce Soukromé galerie současného umění a jejich výstavní program si klade za cíl popsat funkce soukromé komerční galerie se zaměřením se na výstavní programy tří vybraných pražských soukromých galerií, které vycházejí z daných cílů a záměrů jednotlivých galerií. Soukromé komerční galerie nemají v České republice zažitou tradici, začaly postupně vznikat až od 90. let dvacátého století, a lidé často neví jak fungují a co od nich mohou očekávat. Role soukromé komerční galerie je nejen poskytovat umělcům prostor pro vystavení své tvorby, plní mnohem více důležitých funkcí. Galeristé se snaží ukázat, že komerční galerie zastupuje dobré současné umělce, propaguje a prodává jejich umělecká díla a zároveň má kvalitní výstavní program. Pro tuto práci jsem se rozhodla vybrat tři pražské galerie, které jsou vhodnými příklady pro analýzu vzniku a funkce soukromých galerií v Praze a současně se zaměřit na jejich výstavní program v kontextu české umělecké scény. V této práci se zaměřuji na galerie Jiří Švestka Gallery, Hunt Kastner a dvorak sec contemporary. Vybrala jsem právě tyto tři galerie, protože každá z nich vznikla v jiné době, a chtěla jsem tím poukázat na skutečnost, jak jejich cíle a výstavní program reagují na změny na české umělecké scéně v průběhu let jejich fungování.

Abstract:

The thesis Private contemporary art galleries and its exhibition program aims to describe the functions of private commercial gallery with focus on exhibition programs of three selected private galleries in Prague, which are based on the objectives and plans of the individual galleries. The tradition of private commercial gallery in the Czech Republic has not been established, private galleries started to emerge only from the 90´s of twentieth century, and people often do not know how they work and what they can expect. Role of private commercial gallery is not only to provide space for artists to expose their work, they have much more important functions. Gallerists try to show that the commercial gallery represents good contemporary artists, promotes and sells their artwork and also has a quality exhibition program. For this diploma thesis, I decided to choose three galleries that are suitable examples for the analysis of history and functions of private galleries in Prague and at the same time to focus on their exhibition program in the context of the Czech art scene. In this case the focus is on galleries Jiri Svestka Gallery, Hunt Kastner and dvorak sec contemporary . I chose these three galleries, because each of them has been established in different year, and I wanted to point out how their aims and exhibition programs response to the changes in the Czech art scene.
