Perception of industrial regions of Ústí nad Labem and Ostrava in Czech media in period 2011-2021

Abstract:

Předkládaná diplomová práce se zabývá percepcí zejména životního prostředí a jeho srovnání ve dvou postindustriálních regionech České republiky, kraje Ústeckého a Moravskoslezského v období 2011-2021. Jsou to kraje dotčené silnou industrializací v minulém století v důsledku objevení významných nalezišť nerostných surovin zejména hnědého a černého uhlí a s tím souvisejícím rozvojem těžkého průmyslu. Tyto regiony procházely v 90. letech minulého století postupnou deindustrializací v důsledku restrukturalizace ekonomiky a v těchto souvislostech bylo nutno řešit poškozené životní prostředí obou regionů, které významně ovlivňovalo jejich image. Hlavní součástí práce je analýza mediálních výstupů prezentující tyto regiony, jejíž obsahem jsou hlavní problémy krajů a to, jakým způsobem se tyto kraje snaží o vyrovnání se starými průmyslovými zátěžemi minulého industrializačního období.

Abstract:

The presented diploma thesis deals with the perception of the environment in particular and its comparison in two post-industrial regions of the Czech Republic, the Ústí Region and the Moravian-Silesian Region in the period 2011-2021. These are regions affected by strong industrialization in the last century as a result of the discovery of significant deposits of mineral resources, especially brown and black coal, and the associated development of heavy industry. In the 1990s, these regions underwent gradual deindustrialization as a result of economic restructuring, and in this context, it was necessary to address the damaged environment of both regions, which significantly affected their image. The main part of the work is the analysis of media outputs presenting these regions, the content of which is the main problems of the regions and how these regions are trying to cope with the old industrial burdens of the past industrialization period.
