Body as a material: performative forms in Czech art at the end of 20th century

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na podobu performance scény po roce 1989 a po přelomu tisíciletí s přesahem do současnosti. Ilustrace performance scény je postavena na rozboru a představení tvorby umělkyně a pedagožky Lenky Klodové. Cílem práce je nastínit proměnu, kterou performance scéna prošla v 90. letech a její fungování do současnosti. Dále práce zkoumá možnosti uplatnění teorie vzniklé v "západním" uměleckém a teoretickém prostředí. Performance na kterých jsou možnosti zkoumány nesou společný rys provedení ve veřejném prostoru a uplatnění groteskních prvků.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis concentrates on the forms of performance scene after the year 1989 and after the turn of the millennium. Demonstration of the performance scene is build around introduction of czech artist Lenka Klodová and her artistic production. This thesis aims to outline changes which the performance scene went trough in the 90s and to outline how the scene is functioning nowadays. The next goal in this thesis is to show how "western" theory of performance could be used in our environment. The performances used to prove or disprove applicability of the theory have been chosen based on two features, the first one is presentation in public space, the second one is presence of grotesque motives.
