Analysis of chemistry schoolbooks

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou učebnic chemie jak s teoretického hlediska, tak z pohledu učitelů a žáků. Hlavním cílem práce bylo hodnocení spokojenosti učite-lů a žáků s nejčastěji užívanými učebnicemi chemie a vzájemné srovnání jejich názo-rů. Pro zasazení problematiky do širšího kontextu je v práci popsán proces tvorby a schvalování učebnice, její vlastnosti a postavení v rámci kurikula. Pro doplnění je v práci popsán stručný vývoj učebnic chemie. Práce se také zabývá výzkumem učeb-nic z teoretického hlediska a popisuje metody zkoumání využité v její praktické části. V praktické části byl na základě dotazníkového šetření, kterého se zúčastnilo 469 učitelů, vyhodnocován výběr učebnic a jejich využití při přípravě a realizaci výuky. Další dotazníkové šetření v této práci pak bylo zaměřeno na srovnání názorů učitelů a žáků na tyto učebnice. Srovnáváno bylo 371 odpovědí učitelů s 1978 odpověďmi žáků. Pro zajištění komplexního hodnocení učebnic chemie byla také provedena ana-lýza jejich strukturních komponentů a měřena obtížnost výkladového textu učebnice. Výsledky teoretické analýzy obtížnosti textu byly srovnány z empirickými daty zís-kanými při hodnocení obtížnosti textu na základě úspěšnosti žáků při doplňování chybějících slov do textu.

Abstract:

This Thesis deals with the analysis of chemistry textbooks both theoretically and from the point of view of teachers and students. The main goal of the work is to eval-uate and compare the attitudes of teachers and students towards the most frequently used chemistry textbooks. To set the issue in a broad context, the work describes the process of creating and approving textbooks, its characteristics and position within the curriculum. In addition, the brief development of chemistry textbooks is men-tioned. The work also deals with the textbook research from the theoretical point of view and describes the research methods that are used in the practical part of text-books. The practical part of the Thesis, based on a questionnaire survey in which 469 teachers participated, evaluates the selection of textbooks and their use in the prepa-ration and implementation of teaching. Another questionnaire survey compares 371 teachers' to 1978 pupils' answers about their opinion on the textbooks. In order to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of the textbooks, an analysis of their structural components was also carried out and the difficulty of the explanatory text was meas-ured by the success of the students in completing the missing words in the text.
