Při založení nového podniku je třeba vypracovat zakladatelský projekt, který musí obsahovat vymezení základních cílů podnikání, specifikace trhu, způsob založení podniku (obor a předmět podnikání, právní formu). Součástí zakladatelského projektu je zakladatelský rozpočet, který obsahuje rozvahu, výsledovku, výkaz cash flow, rozdělení zisku a investiční program.
