Support for Roma children in interaction with other children in the kindergarten

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá tématem podpory dětí romského etnika při interakci s dětmi ve třídě mateřské školy. Teoretická část obsahuje 5 kapitol, které vymezují pojem romské etnikum, více popisují specifika romských dětí jako je rodinné zázemí nebo jejich vzdělávací předpoklady. Dále se soustředí na romské dítě v preprimárním vzdělávání a vymezují pojmy komunikace a interakce. V poslední kapitole se pojednává o multikulturní výchově, která je s romským etnikem taktéž spojena. Hlavním cílem této práce je zjistit, jaké přístupy a činnosti zařazují učitelky/učitelé na podporu vzájemné interakce a komunikace romských dětí s ostatními dětmi ve třídě mateřské školy. Tento cíl je zkoumán v praktické části bakalářské práce. Výzkum je orientován kvantitativně a konkrétní použitá metoda je dotazník. Hlavním zjištěním z výzkumu je, že učitelky/učitelé v přístupech nedělají mezi dětmi žádné rozdíly a ke všem přistupují stejně. Dále se nesnaží nijak vyzdvihovat informace o kultuře romských dětí. Na podporu romského dítěte zařazují nejvíce skupinové činnosti pro větší možnost socializace a multikulturní tématiku nejvíce zařazují do výtvarných, hudebních a kognitivních činností. Tyto výsledky mohou sloužit k zamyšlení, zda je to pro romské děti dostatečná podpora nebo zda by nebylo vhodné začít rozvíjet větší povědomí o romské kultuře již v MŠ.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis explores the topic of support for Roma children in interaction with other children in the kindergarten. The theoretical part consists of 5 chapters that define the concept of Roma ethnicity and further describe the specifics of Roma children, such as their family backround and educational prerequisites. It also focuses on Roma children in pre-primary education and defines the concepts of communication and interaction. The last chapter deals with multicultural education, which is also associated with the Roma ethnicity. The main aim of this thesis is to determine the approaches and activities that teachers employ to support the interaction and communication between Roma children and other children in kindergarten. This aim is explored in the practical part of the bachelor thesis. The research is quantitatively oriented and the specific method used is a questionnaire. The main finding from the research is that teachers do not differentiate between children in their approaches and treat all of them equally. Furthermore, they do not make any efforts to highlight information about the culture of Roma children. To support Roma children, teachers implement group activities the most, as it provides greater opportunities for socialization. Multicultural topics are mostly integrated into artistic, musical and cognitive activities. These results can be used for reflection in whether this level of support is sufficient for Roma children or whether it would be appropriate to start developing a greater awareness of Roma culture already in kindergarten.
