Abstract:

Nielen počet používateľov smartfónov rastie, ale aj objem mobilného malvéru a zraniteľností, čo predstavuje bezpečnostnú hrozbu na viacerých úrovniach. Z toho dôvodu, softvérové spoločnosti a výrobcovia poskytujú aktualizácie systémov spolu s bezpečnostnými záplatami. Napriek snahe o poskytovanie pravidelných aktualizácií pre ochranu používateľov, zariadenia často ostanú nezaplátané po dlhú dobu. Ako riešenie tohto problému, softvérové spoločnosti vyvíjajú rôzne bezpečnostné technológie, ako napríklad ochrana proti útokom na aplikáciu za jej behu, alebo antimalvérové riešenia. Cieľom tejto práce je navrhnúť a implementovať systém pre detekciu malvéru na platforme Android. Najprv sú analyzované techniky detekcie Android malvéru so zameraním na strojové učenie a následne sú zhrnuté prístupy k využitiu strojového učenia na mobilnom zariadení. Na základe tohto prieskumu je navrhnutý a implementovaný systém, pozostávajúci zo štyroch článkov, ktoré sú zodpovedné za spracovanie jednotlivých častí a neskôr spojené do jedného riešenia. Aplikovaním daného systému je natrénovaná a vyhodnotená neurónová sieť. Záverom je predvedená realizovateľnosť daného riešenia a to integráciou modelu do Android aplikácie a demonštráciou detekcie malvéru medzi množstvom bezpečných aplikácií.

Abstract:

The number of global smartphone users is growing, while the volume of mobile malware and vulnerabilities increases as well, which pose a security threat on multiple levels. Therefore, software companies and manufacturers provide updates of the systems along with security patches. Despite the endeavour to provide regular updates to protect the users, the devices are often left unpatched for long periods. To address this issue, software companies develop numerous security technologies, such as runtime application self-protection or anti-malware solutions. This thesis aims to design and implement a system for the detection of malware on the Android platform. Firstly, techniques of Android malware detection with a focus on machine learning are analysed, and approaches to machine learning inference on mobile devices are outlined. Upon the research, the system is designed and implemented, consisting of four submodules, which are responsible for processing isolated parts and then connected into one solution. Using the system, a neural network is trained and evaluated. Finally, a proof of concept, the integration of the model into an Android application is performed, demonstrating the detection of malware samples among numerous benign applications.
