Use of chemistry in forest and Chrismas tree nurseries

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci nazvané „Používání chemických přípravků v lesních školkách a plantážích vánočních stromků“ je popsána problematika používání vybraných chemických přípravků v lesních školkách a plantážích vánočních stromků u jednotlivých druhů dřevin. V úvodu je obecně popsána historie školkařství v České republice a samotné zakládání školek s výběrem vhodného místa pro školkaření. Jako další jsou zde uvedeny informace o dřevinách, které se ve školce pěstují, jejich nároky na půdu, vlhkost, klimatické podmínky a optimální nadmořská výška jejich použití. Jako největší problémem je udržení plevelů v míře, v jaké neohrožuje semenáčky a sazenice jednotlivých druhů dřevin. U plevelů jsou zde popsány životní cykly, vývojová stadia, rozmnožovací schopnost, anatomické, morfologické a fyziologické vlastnosti, hloubka zakořenění, nároky na stanoviště a rozdílná ochrana proti jejich růstu. Dále byly rozděleny fytocidy do jednotlivých skupin dle jejich způsobu a doby aplikace na vybraných plochách. Je zde popsáno, jak který herbicid použít a na kterou část plevele se aplikuje, aby jeho účinnost byla co možná nejvyšší. Při silném zaplevelení půd, připadající v úvahu např. při zakládání plantáží vánočních stromků, nelze vyloučit použití totálního herbicidu před výsadbou semenáčků a sazenic cílových dřevin. Používání chemických přípravků v lesních školkách a na plantážích vánočních stromků výrazně šetří pracovní síly v ručním pletí a ožínání. Mechanický způsob regulace plevelů (ruční pletí a ožínání) přispívá jen k částečné regulaci výše uvedených plevelných druhů. Použitá skladba herbicidů u jednotlivých dřevin uspokojivě řeší omezení růstu plevelných rostlin. Na závěr je třeba zmínit, že herbicidy je třeba používat „rozumně a s mírou“, aby splnily účel, ale neškodily.

Abstract:

This Bachelor Thesis called “Use of Chemicals in Tree Nurseries and Christmas Tree Plantations” describes the issues concerning use of chemicals in tree nurseries and Christmas tree plantations with various kinds of tree species. The introduction describes the general history of tree nursery management in the Czech Republic and actual establishment of nurseries with the selection of suitable location for these nurseries. This is followed by information about tree species grown in nurseries and their requirements, such as soil, moisture, climatic conditions and optimum altitude for their use. The biggest challenge is to keep weeds to the extent so that they do not interfere with seedlings and plants of various tree species. In regards to weeds the Thesis describes their life cycles, stages of development, reproductive ability, anatomical, morphological and physiological characteristics, the depth of rooting, location requirements, and also various protections against their growth. In the next part phytocides are sorted into particular groups according to the method and time of their application in selected areas. This writing also talks about how to use each herbicide and on which part of the weed it is applied to achieve the optimum effectiveness. If the soil is overgrown with weeds, which happens when establishing Christmas tree plantations, you cannot exclude the application of the total herbicide before planting the seedlings and the plants of targeted tree species. The use of chemicals in tree nurseries and Christmas tree plantations significantly saves the labor used in manual weeding and scorching. Mechanical methods of weed control, such as manual weeding and scorching, only partly contributes to the control of previously mentioned weed species. The use of combined herbicides with particular tree species limits the growth of weeds. In conclusion, I would like to point out that herbicides should be used “reasonably and in moderation“ to fulfill their purpose and not to harm.
