The Nordic social model on the example of the Netherlands

Abstract:

Evropské země můžeme rozdělit do čtyř socio-ekonomických modelů: skandinávského, kontinentálního, anglosaského a středomořského. Každý z nich se liší úrovní redistribuce příjmů, regulací na trhu práce i zboží a služeb a přístupu k zodpovědnosti jednotlivce. To se projevuje v rozdílné struktuře vládních výdajů i příjmů nebo makroekonomických ukazatelích zemí. Diplomová práce se konkrétněji zaměřuje na skandinávský model a Nizozemské království, jelikož díky své sociální politice se Nizozemsko nejvíce podobá skandinávským zemím, i když geograficky tomu tak není. Cílem této diplomové práce je charakterizovat pojetí sociálního státu v Evropě (tzv. Evropského sociálního modelu), charakterizovat a porovnat čtyři socio-ekonomické modely a zhodnotit skandinávský model na příkladu Nizozemska. Práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol. První z nich se zabývá charakteristikou socio-ekonomického modelu v Evropě, druhá kapitola charakterizuje a porovnává čtyři zmíněné modely a poslední kapitola se věnuje vlivu skandinávského modelu na vybrané charakteristiky nizozemské ekonomiky.

Abstract:

European countries can be divided into four socio-economic models: Nordic, Continental, Anglo-Saxon and Mediterranean. Each differs in the level of income redistribution, labor market regulation and the approach to individual responsibility. This is reflected in the different structure of government expenditures and revenues as well as in macroeconomic indicators of countries. This work focuses specifically on the Nordic model and the Netherlands, because due to its social policy, the Netherlands is most similar to the Scandinavian countries, although the Netherlands is geographically not part of Scandinavia. The aim of this thesis is to characterize the concept of the welfare state in Europe (the so-called European social model), to characterize and compare four socio-economic models and to evaluate the Nordic model on the example of the Netherlands. The paper is divided into three chapters. The first of them deals with the characteristics of the social model in Europe, the second chapter characterizes the four models and the last chapter examines the influence of the Nordic model on selected characteristics of the Dutch economy.
