Abstract:

Tato bakalářská diplomová práce se zabývá porovnáním aktuálních britských a českých kuchařských receptů s ohledem na charakteristiky a zvláštnosti daného žánru. Na základě nedávno představené kostry pro analýzu kuchařských instrukcí a výběru těch aspektů, které jsou užitečné pro porovnání dvou různých jazyků, bylo možné provést kontrastivní analyzu. Práce poskytuje definici konceptu aktuálních receptů a vysvětluje relevantní komunikační teorie a terminologii, která byla v průběhu analýzy upotřebena. Metodologie vysvětluje jednotlivé provedené kroky od digitalizace dat přes statistické zjištění hojnosti výskytů určítých slov, až po kvalitativní analýzu a interpretaci těchto výsledků. Účelem použití metody z oblasti korpusové lingvistiky bylo ukázat pravidelnosti či pravidla, kterými se české recepty řídí a také, že je v nich použitý vlastní, specifický jazykový registr, který se odlišuje od vlastností toho z anglických kuchařských instrukcí. Další výzkumná otázka se zabývala tím, zda se lingvistické charakteristiky receptů pocházejících z anglické kuchařky přeložené do češtiny krýjí s typickými vlastnostmi jazykového registru v cílovém jazyce, nebo zda budou odlišné a podobat se tomu z výchozího jazyka.

Abstract:

“The Language of Cooking Instructions” is concerned with a comparison of contemporary British and Czech recipes in terms of genre-specific characteristics and idiosyncrasies. On the basis of a recently introduced framework for the analysis of cooking instructions and a selection of those aspects of it which are useful for contrasting two different languages it was possible to conduct a contrastive linguistic analysis. This work offers a definition of the concept of contemporary recipes and explains relevant communicative theories and the terminology which would be made use of over the course of the analysis. The methodology part explains the single steps starting from digitalizing data to statistical findings concerning the frequency of occurrence of certain words to a qualitative analysis and interpretation of these results. The aim of using this method from the field of corpus linguistics was to show regularities in Czech recipe texts which would demonstrate that a specific register is used that would yet still be distinct from the features of English cooking instructions. Another research question was concerned about whether the linguistic characteristics of recipes taken from an English cookbook translated to Czech would blend with the typical features of the register in the target language or whether they would be distinct and resembling those of the source language.
