Energy policy priorities of the European Union

Abstract:

Hlavní myšlenkou diplomové práce je analýza současných priorit EU v oblasti energetiky s odkazem na Zelenou dohodu a přijatý balíček opatření Fit for 55. První část práce se věnuje historii evropské energetiky od poloviny 20., století až po současnost, aby bylo patrné, jakým směrem se jednotná energetická politika v uplynulých letech ubírala. Pozornost je dále věnována zdrojům získávání energie bez, kterých by nebylo možné rozvíjet hospodářství a zajistit blahobyt pro evropské obyvatelstvo. Zároveň je velmi důležité dbát na energetickou bezpečnost v současné době, protože vnější vlivy mohou ohrozit bezproblémové fungování národních ekonomik, průmyslu či domácností. Nedílnou součástí práce je vypracovaná analýza současného stavu energetiky EU, kde autor vychází ze statistických údajů serveru Eurostat. Z těchto dat je dále možné vycházet a predikovat, zda-li dojde k naplnění společných cílů EU. Aby došlo k naplnění vytyčených cílů, vydává EU ve spolupráci s odborníky v oblasti energetiky směrnice či opatření, aby proces přechodu k obnovitelným zdrojům energie a snížení emisí skleníkových plynů byl plynulý a bezproblémový. Autor vychází z běžně dostupných dat z portálů institucí EU a provádí rešerši zveřejněných dokumentů.

Abstract:

The main idea of the thesis is to analyse the current EU energy priorities with reference to the Green Deal and the adopted Fit for 55 package. The first part of the thesis looks at the history of European energy from the mid-20th century to the present day, in order to show the direction of the single energy policy over the years. Attention is also paid to the sources of energy generation, without which it would be impossible to develop the economy and ensure the well-being of the European population. At the same time, it is very important to pay attention to energy security today, as external influences can threaten the smooth functioning of national economies, industry and households. An integral part of the thesis is an analysis of the current state of the EU energy sector, based on Eurostat statistics. This data can be used to predict whether the EU's common objectives will be met. In order to achieve the set targets, the EU, in cooperation with energy experts, issues directives or measures to make the process of transition to renewable energy sources and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions smooth and seamless. The author draws on commonly available data from the EU institutions' portals and conducts a search of published documents.
