Perception of the bicycle as an urban means of transport. Case study Vsetín

Abstract:

Tato práce se věnuje cyklistice na Vsetínsku. V úvodu popisuje stav dopravy jako takové, zmiňuje se o nevýhodách automobilové dopravy, výhodách cyklistické dopravy a ukazuje úspěšné cyklistické příklady ze zahraničí. Představuje Vsetín pomocí krátkého popisu historie a moderních tendencí vést město směrem k udržitelnému rozvoji. Poté se pomocí dotazníkového šetření snaží zjistit, jakou formu dopravy tamní lidé používají nejčastěji. Jaké vidí nevýhody v jízdě na kole a jaké jsou jejich motivace k jízdě. Zjišťuje také, jak jsou spokojeni s množstvím a kvalitou cyklostezek v okolí. V neposlední řadě se soustředí na to, jak vnímají, že je kolo šetrné k životnímu prostředí, a jak je pro ně tento fakt důležitý. Závěr se věnuje shrnutí zjištěných informací a analýze výsledků.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on cycling in Vsetín region. The introduction describes transport as such, it mentions the disadvantages of car traffic, the advantages and benefits of cycling and it points out the successful foreign bicycle projects. It introduces Vsetín via brief history description and the modern tendencies to lead the town towards sustainable growth. Thereafter, using the questionnaire survey, tries to find out what form of transport the local people use the most. What disadvantages they see in cycling and what are their motivations for cycling. It inquires how satisfied they are with the amount and quality of the bicycle paths in the area. Finally, it focuses on how they perceive the environmental benefits of bike and how is this fact important to them. The conclusion is devoted to a summary of the gathered information and the analysis of the results.
