Important Personalities of the Christian history in Bohemian Countries: Fourteen Martyrs of Prague

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá beatifikací čtrnácti pražských františkánských mučedníků, kteří zahynuli 15. února 1611 v kostele Panny Marie Sněžné během útoku chudiny na kostel, v době přepadení Prahy pasovským vojskem. V teoretické části se věnuje historii mučednictví, životu a odkazu sv. Františka z Assisi, františkánské řeholi a historii františkánského řádu. Práce zahrnuje také popis politické situace v Praze v roce 1611, proces blahořečení v historii i v současnosti a slavnostní beatifikaci v roce 2012 v Katedrále sv. Víta, Vojtěcha a Václava.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with beatification of 14 Prague´s franciscan martyrs, who died on 15th February 1611 in Church of Our Lady of the Snouw during the attack of poor people, when the Passau army assaulted Prague. The theoretic part occupies with the history of martyrdom, the life and the legacy of St. Francis of Assisi, franciscan hard life and history of franciscan order. Thesis also includes a characterization of the politic sutiation in Prague in 1611, beatification in history and in present time and the ceremonial beatification in 2012 in the St. Vitus, Adalbert and Wenceslav Cathedral.
