The current economic situation of former French and British dependent territories in Africa

Abstract:

Cílem práce je porovnat ekonomickou úroveň bývalých britských a francouzských závislých území v Africe. Analýza je provedena pomocí socioekonomických indikátorů. Dílčím cílem je zjistit jestli stále existuje nějaká silná vazba dřívějších kolonií na bývalé koloniální velmoci. Práce také popisuje historický vývoj a dějinné odlišnosti, které měly na současný stav vliv. První kapitola je teoretická část, kde jsou vysvětleny ekonomické ukazatele a vymezen obsah práce. Následující dvě kapitoly se zabývají samotnou analýzou. Závěrečná část je komparace výsledků a zdůraznění dějinných odlišností.

Abstract:

The purpose of the thesis is a comparison of economic level of former French and British dependent territories in Africa. The analysis is conducted by socieconomic indicators. The partial goal is to find out if there is still any strong connection to the former colonial power. The thesis also describes a historical development and differences which they had an influence on current situation. First chapter is the teoretical part where the economic indicators are defined as well as the content of the thesis. The following two parts are dedicated to the analysis. The final chapter is a comparison of results and highlighting the historical differences.
