Invisible Theater as a Space for Dialogue about Ageism

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje technice neviditelného divadla a ageismu jako tématu divadelní inscenace. Je rozdělena do tří plnohodnotných částí, teoretické, výzkumné a tvůrčí. Teoretická část seznamuje čtenáře s technikou neviditelného divadla, jejím zakladatelem Augustem Boalem a s etickou otázkou, jenž se s tímto typem divadla spojuje. Dále pak popisuje neviditelné divadlo v kontextu České republiky a Evropy, proces tvorby neviditelného divadla, průsečíky této metody se sociální pedagogikou a fenomén ageismus. Hlavním cílem výzkumné části je popsat stěžejní témata reflexe realizace neviditelného divadla pohledem jeho realizátorů. Tento cíl je pak rozdělen na dva dílčí cíle. Prvním cílem je popsat reakce náhodných cestujících v tramvaji na diskriminaci seniorky v rámci neviditelného divadla. Druhým cílem je popsat pohled herců na zvýšení povědomí o problematice ageismu ve společnosti prostřednictvím neviditelného divadla. Tvůrčí část, která pokládá základní stavební kameny pro výzkum, pak podrobně popisuje průběh celého workshopu neviditelného divadla, jehož výstupem se stala realizace divadelní inscenace na téma ageismus.

Abstract:

This work is focusing on technics of so-called invisible theatre and ageism as a topic of theatre performances. It’s devided into three fully fledged parts; theoretical, explorational and creative. The theoretical part acquaints its readers with technics of invisible thearte, its founder August Boal and also with ethical questions linked to this type of theatre. It also describes the invisible theatre in the context of the Czech Republic and Europe as a whole, the process of making the actual performance and how social pedagogy along with the phenomen of ageism are related to this kind of theatre. The main purpose of this part is to describe how the actors view the fundamental topics of creating performances. This purpose is divided into two objectives. The first one being how random passangers reacted to a senior citizen being discriminated on a tram. The second objective is to describe opinions of the actors, regarding the matter of ageism in our society, via the invisible theatre. The creative part, which is crucial for my research, then closely describes the entire workshop of invisible theatre, which led to creating a performance regarding the topic of ageism.
