This paper summarizes the land claims efforts of the Haida people over the past 40 years. The main aim of this thesis was to provide analysis of the recent court cases, with emphasis laid on the 2004 Supreme Court of Canada ruling concerning the duty of the Crown to consult with Aboriginal peoples when determining land use planning and other commercial ventures on land that is subject to Native title …more
