Abstract:

Realita fyzického sveta sa stáva stále viac a viac digitálnou. Aby sme mohli bezpečne použiť a aplikovať takéto diskrétne systémy, je im nutné dobre rozumieť. Takéto systému sú naviac často ovplyvňované meniacimi sa parametrami. Väčšinou očakávame že malá zmena parametra spôsobí malú smenu v správaní systému. Inak povedané, čakáme že systém sa správa predvídateľne vzhľadom na zmeny parametrov. To však častokrát nie je pravda. Takýto jav sa nazýva bifurkácia. Bifurkácia je dobre preskúmaná v spojitých systémoch ale zatiaľ zostáva nepreštudovanou v oblasti dis\-krét\-nych systémov. V tejto práci predstavujeme teóriu bifurkácií a popisujeme problémy spojene s aplikáciu tejto teórie na diskrétne systémy. Uvádzame súčasný stav výskumu v oblasti bifurkačnej analýzy diskrétnych systémov pomocou formálnych metód a prípadové štúdie ukazujúce využitie týchto metód.

Abstract:

Our reality is becoming increasingly digital. It is therefore crucial to study and understand discrete systems in order to assess their applicability and safety. These systems are often subject to changing parameter values. We typically expect that a small parameter change will result in a minor change in the system's behaviour. In other words, we expect the system to behave in some sense predictably when subject to the parameter change. However, that is often not the case. Such an event is referred to as bifurcation. Bifurcation is well-studied in continuous dynamical systems but remains largely unexplored in discrete systems. In this work, we introduce bifurcation theory and outline the challenges of applying bifurcation theory to discrete systems. We describe the state of the art methods related to bifurcation analysis using formal methods and show case studies which showcase the use of these techniques.
