Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá pojmy „krásy“ a „ošklivosti“, a to konkrétně v díle současného amerického spisovatele Chucka Palahniuka, který je současnou kritikou označován za zástupce tzv. Generace X. V první části práci bude stručně nastíněn vývoj současné moderní americké literatury, včetně jejích nejvýznamnějších autorů, a dále bude pozornost zaměřena již na samotného Palahniuka i obsah jeho děl. Druhá část práce se již zabývá pojetím vlastních pojmů „krásy“ a „ošklivosti“, kterých Palaniuk ve své tvorbě hojně užívá.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the concept of „beauty“ and „ugliness“ in the work of the modern American writer, Chuck Palahniuk, who is considered to be a representative of the so called X Generation. The development of the modern American literature and its famous autors in the first part is briefly described. The attention to the Palahniuk´s literary works is also paid. The second part deals with the conception of „beauty“ and „ugliness“ in Palaniuk´s work.
