Attitudes of hunters towards the return of wolves to the cultural landscape of the Broumov region

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje analýze postojů myslivců k návratu vlků do kulturní krajiny Broumovska. Cílem je na základě primárních dat, získaných z rozhovorů s myslivci a pozorování, podrobně zmapovat, jak myslivci vnímají přítomnost vlků v jejich regionu, a to ve vztahu k jejich běžné myslivecké praxi i širším socio-ekonomickým dopadům. Studie se zaměřuje na rozbor konkrétních názorů, obav, příležitostí a výzev, které myslivci v souvislosti s vlky identifikují. Zjištěné postoje jsou následně zasazeny do kontextu regionálního managementu vlků, přičemž práce zkoumá, jak mohou tyto postoje ovlivnit strategie ochrany přírody, společenské přijetí vlků a udržitelné soužití člověka s divokou přírodou. V závěru práce jsou navržena specifická opatření, jejichž cílem je zajistit harmonické soužití mezi vlkem a člověkem ve společném prostředí.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses on analyzing the attitudes of hunters towards the return of wolves to the cultural landscape of the Broumov region. Based on primary data obtained from interviews with hunters and observations, the aim is to comprehensively map how hunters perceive the presence of wolves in their region, in relation to their regular hunting practices as well as the broader socio-economic impacts. The study concentrates on dissecting specific opinions, concerns, opportunities, and challenges identified by hunters in relation to wolves. The attitudes discovered are then placed into the context of regional wolf management, examining how these attitudes can influence conservation strategies, societal acceptance of wolves, and sustainable coexistence between humans and wildlife. The thesis concludes by proposing specific measures to ensure harmonious coexistence between wolves and humans in a shared environment.
