Selected trade disputes between the EU and the USA

Abstract:

The goal of my Bachelor thesis is familiar with the exclude trade dispute between the U.S. and the European Union in the field of foreign trade. The thesis pays attention to the establish, and the basic procedural structure and objectives of the GATT as well as the creation and duties of the World Trade Organization under the commercial tariff conferences. The first chapter is devoted to the importance and status of foreign trade, including foreign trade policy. The second chapter focuses attention on the status and tasks of the WTO, is dedicated to the GATT, which is the eighth commercial tariff conference transformed to the WTO, which has currently fulfilling its irreplaceable role in solving trade disputes. In the final third chapter describes the particular trade dispute between the U.S. and the EU, a "banana war", its origin, progress and solutions.

Abstract:

Cieľom mojej bakalárskej práce je oboznámenie sa s významom a postavením zahraničného obchodu, postavením a úlohou Všeobecnej dohody o clách a obchode (GATT) a Svetovej obchodnej organizácie (WTO) a riešením obchodných sporov medzi Európskou úniou (EÚ) a USA. Prvá kapitola je venovaná významu a postaveniu zahraničného obchodu vrátane zahranično-obchodnej politiky. Druhá kapitola sústreďuje pozornosť na postavenie a úlohu WTO, kde sa venujem problematike GATT, ktorá sa ôsmou obchodno-colnou konferenciou pretransformovala na WTO, ktorá i v súčasnosti plní svoju nezastupiteľnú funkciu pri riešení obchodných sporov. V záverečnej tretej kapitole popisujem konkrétny obchodný spor medzi Európskou úniou a USA, a to „banánovú vojnu“, jej vznik, priebeh a riešenia.
